There are Questions in the air about this year NFL draft and most of them are going to be answered in a matter of a few short day. First and foremost who is going #1 overall? Is it going to be LSU Quarterback JaMarcus Russell or 2007 can’t miss draft pick WR Calvin Johnson from Georgia Tech. Until a couple days ago, everyone thought that Russell was the choice, Oakland really had nobody on that team last year the deserved to call themselves a NFL Quarterback. Aaron Brooks being the closes thing and he would be better suited as a running back, or a really bad Micheal Vick. Any way back on the subject, there was a situation that might come about that you might want to keep an eye out for. If, and that’s a big IF, the Miami Dolphins work out a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, to send Trent Green to Miami, In return Miami would drop Donte Culpepper, because of this lingering knee injury’s. Then Oakland picks up Culpepper to get Moss and him back together. Which they would leave Calvin Johnson with the first overall pick and have a pretty deadly one, two receiving core. That is if Moss ever returns new head coach Lane Kiffin’s phone calls.
One of the other major things just surfaced today, the best overall running back Adrian Peterson from Oklahoma, who broke is collarbone, and missed the final 6 games of the season, only to make it back just in time to put on a show at the Fiesta Bowl, apparently re-injured that same collarbone in that game. Peterson coming out of high school was one of the most talented running backs I have ever seen. As a freshman, at a big time football school, he put up some monster numbers but was never ever able to duplicate because of injuries. And for that reason GM’s around the league are a little worried about maybe wasting a early pick and first round money on a guy that has a tendency to get injured. Mind you this is the same guy that is getting compared to Eric Dickerson, as a hard nose runner with break away speed. Pretty lofty comparison but I see where they’re coming from. The Pro game is so much faster and stronger that the college game, and if he was unable to stay on the college field what makes them think that he can stay healthy in the pro game. Do I see this years Aaron Rogers, No. I still think he goes first 10 picks, but most of all I think the Brown’s do now pass on him and pick up Brady Quinn in that pick. So where does he fall to. Tune in on Saturday to find out. I know that I will be watching. Along with all the authors of this Blog.
